Lil spice never stop the sun from shining... 😂😂😂
In my previous post named "Turmeric for clear, bright and acne free skin" posted on the mid 2017, are some variations to this haldi ubtan, used for various skin types and conditions. I have been using and speaking about 'Turmeric Masks" before most people and companies have been investing time and testing into turmeric and it's properties.. The new craze is the 'Golden magic of turmeric', and people are buying into it, without knowing the history and origin of it.
Here's a bit of Background:
5000 years ago on the Indian subcontinent, men and women took care of their skin and hair during rituals connected with religion. In the ancient Ayurveda tradition, face and body masks called Ubtan were applied and adjusted according to the season. Ubtan masks are in fact the very first cosmetic product ever used in the world. Ubtan is a mix of various herbs, plants, roots and flowers chosen and mixed according to various skin types and desired outcomes.
Turmeric is considered extremely auspicious for rituals - it marks a good beginning because of its medicinal properties. It is a great antiseptic and, when eaten, helps in digestion and is good for the skin and bones too. Turmeric is prescribed as a detoxifying agent. The application of turmeric onto the body acts as a cleanser and purifier - both literally and symbolically. As the bride and groom step into a new life, the haldi ceremony is supposed to act as a detoxifying massage.
So back to me:
DiY mask left me stained but it was totally worth it. My skin has taken a strain from my new hair removal lazer treatments and the change in weather. I had dry patches, peeling skin and unusual breakout. I used a classic Haldi Ubtan (turmeric mask) used for Hindi bridal ceremonies, but it worked like a bomb.
It's contains a mixture of turmeric powder, gram flower, sandalwood powder, rosewater and raw milk. Apply to skin and wash off after 30mins.
I did this once a week for a month and the results were amazing. My break outs stopped my blackheads cleared up but still tend to have a few stubborn ones. My skin texture is soft, nourished. It no longer has dry peeling patches unless I forget to exfoliate. I just love the fact that it's all natural and easy to make and apply to the skin. It does tend to get a bit hard and pull at the skin as it dries and sometimes a bit rough to wash off and leave a yellow stain but it's worth the results.
My skin is visibly clearer, and the skin tone has even out, leaving a radiant glow. I have pigmentation marks and a few bad acne scars that are still healing. I sound like I'm advertising for a beauty brand, but to be honest the Ayurveda DiY mask has been more effective than most store bought ones I have tried and tested. The proof is in the photographs.
The Ayurveda mask is definitely one to try out, once you try it and keep at it, you will see the long term benefits too. I still do the mask once a week to assist with the marks I have left and the odd pimple that flares up from time to time. This is a ubtan from the history of time, will stain your memory and still golden today, as it always was.
