Salon beauty treatments versus DIY home treatments my beauty Dilemma

I’m such a girlie, girl at times it amazes me. I use to be this Tom boy who climbed trees, played soccer on the street, down to dressing in just jeans and t-shirts with sneakers all my life till the end of high school. At the tender age of 17 while studying various things that sparked my interest and I was forced into the real world and the real working world. The world’s are tales apart from school life. I had to dress up in suits and have my hair pinned up and my face had to be flawless daily. My word was it a struggle, I knew nothing about beauty routines and fashion trends. I had turned to my trusted friend, Google and began my search on grooming and taming myself for work. I began with simple adjustments to style and makeup but my skin took a beating with the heavy dose of daily makeup and my body was drained from working my skin became dull and I was no longer vibrant as my character.

It was then I realised I had to visit a beauty salon on a monthly, to have my skin scrubbed down , oh in salon terms exfoliated and a face mask done to remove blackheads and unblock my pores, a hair mask to repair heat damage and moisturize. As months passed by I realised it was a costly affair to be professional. I wondered would DIY products achieve the same results. The elder people in my family had always brought it to my attention they used household remedies and they were healthy and beautiful., I’d always look with a sideway eye and think but you all wrinkled, how did that workout for you exactly?

I  challenged myself to a 3 month DIY beauty plan and see if the results were worth the efforts. I did coffee body scrubs, mustard seed body wraps, nutmeg acne face masks, meringue tightening face mask, to rose water hairspray and mayonnaise hair food and not forgetting the Listerine foot spa

At the end of my 3 months I have reached the following conclusion…. We all love to be spoilt and pampered and enjoy someone else straining themselves to make us look beautiful and polished but do we have the budget to accommodate that. Not all of us that’s for sure and it may be even worst  now that the budget speech is hot off the press for 2017. The DIY treatments are great enough to rave about, they give the same effects and results as salon treatments. It just means a little more work for yourself. You have to prep the products and you have to clean up afterwards which aren’t my cup of tea but nothing goes to waste. All products are part of your grocery list and if they are not used as body treatments they can be used for what they actually were bought for.

I would suggest  if you want to try it get a  few girlfriends involved  in a pick me up pamper session. This let’s you mess and prep together and you treat ourselves to the best at home spa treatments and clean up is a team work effort. You will love the last part it’s my favourite .
You will learn tons of DIY ways to care for various skin types and how to prepare products and store them for the next week with a large variety of ideas and products to  add and eat at the same time makes DIY so versatile  and relaxing.

Salons vs DIY  is incomparable  at times since one wants effortless beauty and results and at other times we go into  the “do it ourselves” mode, it just depends. Unleash your beauty path and venture down the routes and see what suits you. Share your experiences with us.

The power of the Haldi Ubtan

Lil spice never stop the sun from shining... šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ In my previous post named "Turmeric for clear, bright and acne free skin" posted on the mid 2017, are some variations to this haldi ubtan, used for various skin types and conditions. I have been using and speaking about 'Turmeric Masks" before most people  and companies have been investing time and testing into turmeric and it's properties.. The new craze is the 'Golden magic of turmeric', and people are buying into it, without knowing the history and origin of it.  Here's a bit of Background: 5000 years ago on the Indian subcontinent, men and women took care of their skin and hair during rituals connected with religion.   In the ancient   Ayurveda   tradition, face and body masks called  U btan   were applied and adjusted according to the season. Ubtan masks are in fact the very first cosmetic product ever used in the world. Ubtan is a mix of various herbs, plants, roots and flowers

An update on havoc or maybe not, PART 2

Here, I thought part 2 would be typed and rolled out in no time, but, it's clearly no surprise that I have slacked and the release is so delayed.  I thought I'd give the havoc and unorganized lifestyle a bit more time and space to spill out in front of me before I give the verdict. Let me down right honest,  "I CANNOT DO THIS ANY LONGER!" I have seen the passed few months literally spill out at me, from unplanned events, to last minute clothing shopping and unexpected set backs, taking me a back. I prefer my daily to be more organised and structured to fit in time  for everything, I plan out months in advance if my wardrobe would need updating and changes, I am hands on with events and coordinating them accordingly, I normally can handle moments of unexpectedness if they rare. I have realized I'm too much of a controller and planner, I need to be organised and well prepared, to allow the unexpected to happen, I'm not one who loves to be surprised
